Hydraulic Institute Offers Webinar on Variable Speed Drives for Pumps

Hydraulic Institute and Pump Systems Matter announced the kick-off of their first webinar series for 2012. The Variable Speed Drives four-part webinar series will begin on January 13, 2012.

Variable speed drives in pump systems are now a mature technology that, in correct applications, can generate large benefits to the user in cost savings and reliability improvements.

Following is a schedule for the Variable Speed Drives webinar series:
Session 1 -- Intro 101, January 13, 2012, 1:00-2:00pm EST
Session 2 -- Application and Installation Considerations, January 20, 2012, 1:00-2:00pm EST
Session 3 -- Protection for VFD and Proper Output, January 27, 2012, 1:00-2:00pm EST
Session 4 -- Troubleshooting Problems with VFDs, February 3, 2012, 1:00-2:00pm EST

The price for the series is $229. Advance registration is required and HI Members receive a 25% discount on the regular registration fee. Participants of the Variable Speed Drives webinar series may earn up to four PDH credits. For more details visit Hydraulic Institute's website.

Hydraulic Institute Announces Mechanical Seals Summer Webinar Series

From ThomasNet: The Hydraulic Institute (HI), in collaboration with the Fluid Sealing Association (FSA) and the International Sealing Distributors (ISD), announced the kick-off of the Mechanical Seals Summer Webinar Series, an overview of mechanical seals for pumps led by the nation's leading seal experts.

The series begins on Tuesday, July 26, 2011. This is a 4-part webinar series based on the HI FSA guidebook, Mechanical Seals for Pumps: Application Guidelines, published in cooperation with the Fluid Sealing Association. Each webinar lasts about one hour, including a Q&A session.

Hydraulic Institute updates air-operated pumps standard

From ThomasNet: The Hydraulic Institute (HI) has updated the 2004 edition of the ANSI/HI standard on air-operated pumps and published Air-Operated Pumps ANSI/HI 10.1-10.5-2010. The updated standard is for air-operated pumps and includes positive displacement reciprocating pumps used for general liquid transfer. These pumps are usually driven by means of a compressed gas (usually air) from an outside source.

Hydraulic Institute Debuts Updated Standard for Rotary Pump Tests

Hydraulic Institute seeks reviewers for updated pump standard

Hydraulic Institute Announces "Member of the Year" Award Thomas Angle of Weir Specialty Pumps Receives Accolade

Hydraulic Institute seeks reviewers for draft of updated ANSI/HI 1.4

From ThomasNet: Under approval of ANSI, Hydraulic Institute is seeking qualified individuals in North America to participate in review process for draft of updated Standard ANSI/HI 1.4 Rotodynamic Pumps for Manuals Describing Installation, Operation, and Maintenance.

Guideline applies to centrifugal and vertical pump types and is designed to identify standard format, which will be used when writing IOMs, along with topics that will be covered in each section when deemed appropriate for pump being addressed.
