Colfax Fluid Handling delivers bitumen pumps to Russia

From Colfax Fluid Handling (Allweiler): In June of 2012, Colfax Fluid Handling delivered a package of 21 Allweiler screw and centrifugal pumps for a bitumen production facility in Russia. The pumps are an important part of the plant, which is located in Novoshakhtinsk (Rostov region) and produces bitumen according to the "Biturox" process from Vienna-based Pörner Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH.

The thirteen Allweiler screw pumps of the SNH series and eight centrifugal pumps of the CNH-B, CTWH, and NTWH series will go into service in early 2013. As the licensor of the "Biturox" process, the plant engineer is the international market leader for project management and delivery of plants of this type. The facilities use primarily Allweiler threescrew pumps. According to Stefan Kleinmann, Senior Director of Marketing and Business Development at Allweiler: "With this project we have once again demonstrated our high level of technical competence and provided the customer with a unified package of pumps that work optimally together. As a result, the operator will be using pumps with extremely low total operating costs."

"When evaluating pumps for biomass applications, we recommend approaching pump selection from a holistic viewpoint. Several different types of pumps, including positive displacement and centrifugal, can be used in the process as the materials are broken down and converted. Ideally, a pump supplier should be chosen on its ability to offer products that match the specification requirements, as well as knowledge of how the pump interacts with the system and materials."

"The physical properties of the material and aggressiveness through the system also have a significant impact on the pump. Pump materials and coatings, shaft seals and the operating point should be specifically adapted to the pump and system. Be sure to communicate the material and system properties to potential pump suppliers."

Allweiler received a Euro 5 million fuel injection skid order for Iraqi power plants

The skids will be used for power plant expansions in Kirkuk as well as new plants being built in Baiji and Baghdad.

The first two skids will be completed in early 2011. The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity has ordered an additional five and has options to purchase three more.

Colfax to provide pumping tech for Australian Navy

Colfax Receives euro 5.7 Million Pump Order From Brightoil

Finance: Colfax Corporation* (NYSE:CFX - News), a global leader in fluid-handling solutions for critical applications, announced it has received a euro 5.7 million pump order from Brightoil Shipping Group Co. Ltd., an international marine bunkering business (offshore marine fuel supplier) headquartered in Shenzhen, China.

Under the agreement, Colfax will supply 180 two-screw rotary positive displacement pumps that Brightoil will install in 40 new tankers through 2011. The pumps – manufactured by Colfax's Houttuin business in Utrecht, Netherlands – will be used for transferring fuel oil and gas oil, as well as stripping (removal of waste or contaminants, such as water).

Colfax changes chief executive officer

From BusinessWeek: The president and CEO of Richmond-based Colfax Corp. has resigned from the company and was replaced yesterday by a member of its board of directors.

John A. Young, who had worked for Colfax since it was founded in 1995 and served as its president and chief executive since 2000, resigned "by mutual agreement with the board," company chairman Mitchell P. Rales said in a conference call with analysts.

Clay H. Kiefaber was named president and CEO, effective yesterday. Kiefaber has been a member of the company's board since the initial public offering of its stock in 2008.

Colfax reports reduced income and sales

From Richmond-Times Dispatch: Colfax Corp. today said preliminary results for the third quarter showed net income of $1.8 million and a sales decrease of 16.2 percent.

"We are pleased with our performance in this challenging environment," said John Young, president and chief executive officer of the Richmond-based manufacturer of industrial pumps. "While overall sales were down, our Navy and power generation businesses showed good growth over last year's third quarter."

Young said the company is making progress on cost-reduction initiatives, including cutting about 15 percent of its work force.

"We expect to realize savings of approximately $16 million in 2009 or about $22 million on an annualized basis," he said.

Colfax's Warren Pumps Receives Favorable Ruling in Asbestos Insurance Case

Colfax Corporation, a global leader in fluid-handling solutions for critical applications, announced today that its Warren Pumps subsidiary received a favorable ruling in its asbestos insurance case.

The decision issued October 14, 2009, by the Delaware Court of Chancery confirmed that Warren is entitled to excess insurance coverage purchased by a former owner of the business. The Court also ruled that Warren's asbestos-related costs should be allocated among excess insurers using an "all sums" allocation. This allows Warren to collect amounts paid in connection with a claim from any insurer whose policy is triggered, up to the policy's applicable limits. This litigation and the decision are separate and apart from insurance litigation involving Colfax's Imo subsidiary.

Colfax income up slightly in first quarter

From Richmond Times-Dispatch: Colfax Corp. (parent company of ALLWEILER) today reported income of $6.9 million for the first quarter, a slight increase over the $6.8 million in the same period a year earlier.

The Richmond-based maker of industrial pumps and valves said quarterly sales increased 4.3 percent to $136.3 million.

"We believe economic conditions could remain difficult for the balance of the year and now expect organic sales for the year to be down between 2 percent and 4 percent," said John Young, president and chief executive officer.

Colfax to deliver $2 million in pumping systems for oil pipeline in Gabon

From OilOnline: Colfax Corporation has announced a $2 million order for pumping systems from French oil company Maurel et Prom. Colfax's Allweiler(R), Warren(R) and Imo(R) pumps will be used to move crude oil through a new 145-kilometer pipeline connecting an oil-field production plant in Onal to a refinery in Coucal, both located in Gabon, on the western coast of Africa.
