Vacuum Pumps are optimized for performance/footprint density

From ThomasNet: Edwards, a leading global supplier of vacuum and abatement equipment and services, today expanded its iXA family of magnetically-levitated turbomolecular pumps with the introduction of the STP-iXA2206 and STP-iXA3306 pumps. Developed for solar, glass coating, semiconductor and LCD etch applications, the iXA2206/iXA3306 pumps deliver best-in-class performance superior to that offered by earlier iXA family pumps.

"The new STP-iXA2206/iXA3306 are fully-integrated vacuum pumps that are easy to install and offer a small footprint as an all-in-one solution for all application tools," said Masahide Tanaka, senior product manager, TMP Business Division, Edwards Japan, Ltd. "The integration of the onboard controller eliminates the need for control unit rack mounting and a connection cable between the pump and the control unit, saving installation time, space and cost. Its compact design and size compatibility with previous models simplifies upgrades from existing pumps."

Metallurgical High Vacuum Exhibits at Furnaces North America

From Yahoo! Finance: Metallurgical High Vacuum will show its newest vacuum pump, a 430-CFM HS 430, in Booth # 620-622 at the FNA show in Orlando, Florida*, on October 5-6, 2010. The booth will also feature information on rebuilt vacuum pumps for tough heat treating applications, at which MHV excels. Also on display will be mechanical seal retrofits for the Roots(R) 615 blower and Stokes(R) 306/310 blower.

Below the cost of a replacement unit, MHV rebuilt pumps have become the standard for many customers requiring all-new pumping capacity. "Once they get a pump from MHV, they can see the high quality that our American-made company delivers. They get a pump that looks like new and runs even better. We have customers that can go anywhere for their pump rebuilding, but they come back to MHV because of our quality and service," notes Geoff Humberstone, President. "Knowledgeable customers come back again and again for our quality and long service life, because it represents a better long-term value."

The New DRYVAC Complements the Broad Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum Portfolio

From Yahoo! Finance: Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum (OLV), an ISO9001 certified company, offers vacuum pumps, research coating systems, leak detectors and related components for use in Photovoltaic manufacturing. Our process experiences include vacuum generation for supporting crystal pulling and casting of silicon, deposition of thin-film coatings and lamination for today's solar modules.

OLV recently announced the introduction of a second generation industrial dry-compressing screw-type vacuum pump line called DRYVAC®. The new DRYVAC has evolved from one design platform comprised of models 650 S, 650 S-i and 5000 RS-i. Multiple pumping system combinations are also possible for gaining increased pumping speeds and vacuum levels by incorporating the RUVAC® WH line of vacuum boosters. Both DRYVAC and the RUVAC WH offer improvements in leak tightness, energy efficiency and physical stature over competitive brands.

Metallurgical High Vacuum Debuts 'Torture Tank' to Assure Peak Pump and Blower Performance

Until now, most replacement vacuum pumps were tested under actual conditions only when they were first connected to a customer's heat treating chamber. Now, Metallurgical High Vacuum puts their new and rebuilt pumps and blowers through their torturous "stress test" at the factory to assure performance under pump-down conditions.

As Geoff Humberstone, MHV President, comments: "We have always done a blank off test and a 20-24 hour run-in on our pumps. While this is good, using the pump to evacuate a vessel of known volume is the real acid test.
