Free Pumps Webinar: Redefining Repair as a Failure of Maintenance

We got an update from Pumps & Systems on a free webinar that will take place on November 10, 2011, 1 p.m. EST.

The topic is: Redefining Repair as a Failure of Maintenance - Using Life-Cycle Asset Management to Minimize Repairs and Maximize Plant Efficiency.

Here are the details from Pumps & Systems' website:

Plant managers and process engineers traditionally assume that pump failures are to be expected and simply a cost of doing business. In fact, only 11 percent of all equipment failures are due to wear—and most failures can be avoided with an appropriate life-cycle-based asset management program.

Tom Dabbs, reliability specialist from the ITT PRO Services organization, will explain how organizations can use improved maintenance to virtually eliminate the need for repairs, instead of living with the results of unplanned failure.

He’ll provide industry benchmarks for equipment reliability and best practices in maintenance that organizations use to achieve those levels. Tom will explain other elements of an asset management strategy that lowers life-cycle costs, including organizational structure and the importance of job planning.
Supported by case studies from a variety of industries, Tom will give attendees actionable advice they can use to improve pump reliability, lower repair costs, and move closer to the goal of zero equipment failures.

Who Should Attend?
  • Plant Managers
  • Engineering/Maintenance Managers
  • Production/Maintenance Supervisors
  • Maintenance/Reliability Engineers
  • Purchasing/Accounting/Finance Managers

New pumps saving city money

From The Andalusia Star News: The City of Andalusia is among communities across the nation that gained from energy-conservation improvements underwritten by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Andalusia qualified for a $250,000 grant that replaced several aging pumps earlier this year at two major lift stations in the sanitary sewer system. It was among the largest grant disbursements soon after Alabama received $55.5 million worth of federal stimulus funds administered through the ADECA.

Volumetric flow-meters from Debem

More details on the video (from Debem's YouTube channel): The volumetric flow-meters with oval gear wheels allow to perform precise and highly repeatable measurements, even with very viscous liquids, with up to 1,000,000 cps.

The ease of use and compactness of these products, together with the possibility of installing and independent battery power supply, make them suitable to be fixed on fixed installations as well as transfer and distribution lines for fluids, both for mobile applications such as accessories for distribution valves and guns and for any other industrial application for the control of the delivered fluid
