Flowserve Buying Italy-Based Valbart For $168M

From Manucaturing.net: Flowserve Corp. said Friday it bought Valbart Srl, an Italian company that makes valves used in the oil and gas industry, for about $168 million cash.Flowserve, which makes pumps and fluid handling equipment, said it also repaid $32 million in debt held by Valbart.

The company said the deal will reduce its profit by a small amount in 2010 and add to its profits starting in 2011. Flowserve and Valbart began collaborating in December.

Colfax to provide pumping tech for Australian Navy

Finance: Colfax Corporation (NYSE:CFX - News), a global leader in fluid-handling solutions for critical applications, announced Australian shipbuilding company ASC has ordered $1.2 million in pumping technology on behalf of the Air Warfare Destroyer Alliance for building three new air-warfare destroyers for the Royal Australian Navy. The order is primarily for three-screw rotary positive displacement pumps, which will be used for handling fluids such as fuel, lubricating oil and bilge water.

"We're pleased to have been selected to supply fluid-handling technology for Australia's latest destroyers," said Clay Kiefaber, president and CEO of Colfax. "We have more than 70 years of experience serving navies around the world and understand the need for defense vessels to perform anywhere, anytime, under the harshest possible conditions."
