Frost & Sullivan on the Fragmented North American Positive Displacement Pumps Market

From Yahoo! Finance: Based on its recent analysis of the positive displacement (PD) pumps market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Pump Solutions Group™ (PSG), a Dover Corporation (Dover) company, with the 2010 North American Frost & Sullivan Award for Customer Value Enhancement.

There is a dearth of multiple equipment manufacturers in the PD pumps market; most participants offer individual products that end users are forced to piece together either by themselves or through distributors. Thus, vendors that provide complete solution-sets will have a strong advantage amidst diverse end-users. Dover has edged out competition by establishing PSG, which consolidates all of Dover's individual brands, including Wilden®, Blackmer®, Griswold™, Almatec®, Mouvex® and Neptune™, into one organization that is designed to offer cohesive product solution-sets to customers.

Peristaltic Condensate Pumps target US mini-split market

From ThomasNet: Peristaltic pumps are perfect solutions for minisplit condensate control in quiet or harsh industrial and foodservice environments.

Airtec Products Corp., Fall River, Mass., a leading manufacturer and importer of HVAC/R products, introduces Aspen Pumps' Purple Series of peristaltic condensate pump kits for minisplit air conditioners. Peristaltic pumps are ideal in applications requiring the quietness of remote operation or in compromised environments such as foodservice or industrial areas where excess dirt or oil create blockages in conventional minisplit condensate pumps.

Geothermal heating puts homes in touch with the Earth

From the Seattle Times: Home homeowners chase down high-tech solar panels and efficient appliances to make their houses environmentally friendly. Others eschew the latest technology in favor of something far more basic: caves.

Geothermal heating and cooling systems work just as caves do: The temperature underground is more moderate than the air above. If it's 85 degrees outside, it's cool in the cave. If it's 25 degrees outside, the cave is still 50 to 60 degrees.

Pump Technology Advancements FREE Webinar

Reminder: A free webinar on Pump Technology Advancements will take place on May 13, 1 pm EST. This webinar will significantly help pump manufacturers and designers to address some of these important design considerations. Veteran pump industry expert Dr. David Japikse will help bring attendees up-to-date on methodologies for cost effective pump design to meet high performance over a wide operating range.

Traditionally, companies may make modifications to the pump design without fully considering the ramifications. For example, just redesigning the impeller with an existing housing may not lead to achieving optimum performance for that pump. Webinar attendees will learn how pump performance improvements can be achieved by utilizing various techniques including:

  • Creating full-featured pump designs
  • Improving inlets and/or blade shapes
  • Utilizing diffusers
  • Reducing losses in the return channel/continuous crossover
  • Increasing design stability via vane shapes and/or diffuser/volute design
  • Working with a better motor design
The event will include a live question-and-answer segment. You're welcome to Register Now!
