Copper thieves targeting heat pumps

From WVVA.com: As the theft of expensive copper wire becomes more common across the region, thieves are finding new targets. The latest trend: heat pumps.Residents and business owners in the Mercer County town of Montcalm are on watch after heat pumps at places such as the volunteer fire department, post office and a doctor's office have been hit.

Some thieves have stolen entire condenser units, while others have just gutted the devices for the copper. State Police say they're not sure how many people are involved in the Montcalm area thefts. If you see anything suspicious you are urged to call authorities.
