Allegro MicroSytems, Inc. Announces New Single Phase Brushless DC Pre-Driver IC

ThomasNet brings a news release of Allegro that announces the first device in a series of single-phase brushless DC motor pre-drivers used to control high current fans, blowers or pumps.

According the news release, outputs are designed to drive an all N-Channel MOSFET H-Bridges with supply voltages between 8 V and 36 V. The motor speed is regulated by either a PWM (pulse width modulated) input or external analog voltage (typically thermistor). Motor speed can be monitored with the FG output and minimum speed can be programmed with an external voltage. This new device is targeted at the office automation, telecommunications, consumer and industrial markets.

Limpopo water pumps 'hot' property

iafrica.com brings the following news from South Africa: criminals have stolen more than ten water pumps, costing about R50 000 each, in Limpopo's Greater Sekhukhune region, the district municipality said on Friday.

Independent Online adds that Spokesperson Sizwe Nyende said the machines had been stolen this year."If you steal these machines you inconvenience a lot of people because they are very difficult to replace. The machines are huge and provide water from dams for a number of villages."

He said it was possible that the machines were stolen and sold, but were also convenient for personal use.

He pleaded with local communities to be co-operative and report the theft because it was pulling the district backwards.
